BIO
Bob Card est un artisan et ébéniste passionné depuis plus de 50 ans. Ayant grandi à Des Moines, dans l’Iowa, Bob a puisé chaleur et inspiration dans l’atelier de son père au sous-sol, où il a appris très jeune les bases du travail du bois.
Le chemin de Bob vers une carrière d’artiste à temps plein n’a pas été linéaire. Après avoir obtenu un MBA, il a occupé pendant plus de vingt ans des postes de direction dans le monde de l’entreprise. En milieu de carrière, en quête de changement, il a quitté son emploi pour ouvrir un atelier dans un ancien entrepôt de l’East End de Houston.
Initialement centré sur la fabrication de meubles sur mesure, Bob a commencé à créer des sculptures à partir de chutes de bois. Avec le temps, sa passion pour la sculpture s’est intensifiée, le menant à participer à davantage d’expositions, à remporter des distinctions, et à fonder un atelier dédié à la sculpture dans le quartier artistique.

Aujourd’hui, Bob est sculpteur à plein temps. Ses œuvres, récompensées à de nombreuses reprises lors de concours avec jury, figurent dans d’importantes collections privées.
En 2024, Bob a signé avec la galerie Heidi Vaughan Fine Art. Depuis, il a participé à deux expositions collectives dans cette galerie, aux côtés d’artistes renommés tels que James Surls, Mathieu JN Baptiste, Ernesto Marenco, Janice Freeman, Jesus Moroles, Karin Broker et Susan Budge.
Plus tôt cette année, Bob a eu l’honneur d’être sélectionné pour une exposition internationale à l’Université du Texas à Tyler, organisée par Alexis Rockman.

BIO
Bob Card has been a dedicated maker and woodworker for over 50 years. Growing up in Des Moines, Iowa, Bob found warmth and inspiration in his father's basement workshop, where he learned the basics of woodworking from a young age. Bob's journey to becoming a full-time artist was not straightforward. After earning an MBA, he spent over two decades in senior corporate roles. Mid-career, seeking a change, he left his job to open a studio in an old warehouse in Houston's East End. Initially focused on custom furniture, Bob began creating sculptures from leftover scraps. Over time, his passion for sculpture grew, leading him to participate in more exhibitions, win accolades, and eventually establish a dedicated sculpture studio in the arts district. Today, Bob is a full-time sculptor whose work has received numerous awards in juried competitions and is held in significant private collections. In 2024, Bob secured representation with Heidi Vaughan Fine Art. He has since participated in two group shows there, exhibiting alongside renowned artists such as James Surls, Mathieu JN Baptiste, Ernesto Marenco, Janice Freeman, Jesus Moroles, Karin Broker, and Susan Budge.
