Avec une capacité inégalée à saisir l’essence de ses sujets, Dee donne vie à sa vision unique sur la toile. Née et élevée à Montréal, nourrie d’une profonde appréciation pour la beauté du quotidien, Dee puise son inspiration dans l’énergie foisonnante des environnements urbains, la sérénité de la nature et l’attrait fascinant du monde animal. Ayant vécu dans six provinces canadiennes, elle développe une œuvre où se mêlent harmonieusement réalisme et impressionnisme, créant une expérience visuelle captivante qui résonne auprès des spectateurs. Artistes qui m’inspirent : Alice Neel, Georgia O’Keefe, Van Gogh, le Groupe des Sept, l’artiste montréalais Richard Savoy. Processus de création : Je prépare toujours mes couleurs acryliques à l’avance afin de rester dans le flux créatif sans être interrompue par le mélange des peintures. J’aime aussi purifier mon espace en pratiquant la fumigation (smudging) sur moi-même et dans mon atelier. Ce rituel sacré m’apporte une grande clarté et une profonde détente. Mes marques de peinture préférées sont Golden et Liquitex. Ce qui m’inspire en tant qu’artiste : Je suis influencée et inspirée par la nature qui m’entoure. Je suis constamment en train d’observer les formes, les couleurs et les nuances. Une grande part de mon inspiration provient également de l’étude des styles et mouvements d’autres artistes. Mon amour pour Montréal transparaît dans mes toiles consacrées à ma ville bien-aimée. Depuis mon enfance, j’ai toujours été fascinée par l’architecture montréalaise : ses magnifiques églises, les structures Art déco et victoriennes du Vieux-Montréal, ses escaliers en colimaçon si caractéristiques… la liste est longue ! Peindre Montréal me ramène toujours à mes souvenirs d’enfance dans le cœur animé de la ville. Partager mes peintures de Montréal est un merveilleux cadeau, non seulement pour moi, mais pour tous les Montréalais : elles ravivent de précieux souvenirs et suscitent de belles histoires. Achever une toile m’inspire toujours à en entreprendre une nouvelle. Pour moi, le défi artistique consiste à réunir créativité, réalité, imagination, médium et technique afin d’offrir au spectateur l’impression de faire partie intégrante de l’histoire représentée. Retour aux sources : Mon exposition solo en octobre à la Casa Gallery, 505 Jean-Talon Est, du 19 au 22 octobre, est pour moi la réalisation d’un rêve. J’ai commencé ma série montréalaise au début de la pandémie de COVID, alors que je vivais en Alberta. À mi-chemin de la série, il m’est apparu évident de présenter ma collection de 16 tableaux consacrés à notre ville chérie. J’ai choisi de ne pas vendre les originaux avant qu’ils puissent être exposés à Montréal — leur maison, ma maison. J’ai hâte de vous rencontrer lors de ma prochaine exposition ! Restez à l’écoute !
